Latest FBR Tax Slabs 2026-27

The latest FBR Tax Slabs 2026-27 keep the tax-free threshold at Rs 600,000 per year (Rs 50,000 per month) and reduce rates across most brackets. Income up to Rs 1.2 million is now taxed at just 1% on the amount above Rs 600,000, down from 5%. Higher slabs continue at 11%, 23%, 30%, and 35%, but the 10% surcharge on income above Rs 10 million has been abolished.

Freelancer Tax in Pakistan

Freelancer Tax Pakistan follows the export-of-services regime: registered FBR filers pay just 1% withholding on foreign remittances, while non-filers pay 2%. Use the freelancer tax calculator to estimate liability on your annual freelance income from platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, and direct clients. Freelancers earning over Rs 600,000 a year must register on FBR Iris and file an annual income tax return to retain Active Taxpayer List (ATL) benefits on bank transactions, property, and vehicles.

Income Tax Slab Pakistan

The Income Tax Slab Pakistan structure for salaried individuals is progressive: higher earners pay a higher marginal rate. The first Rs 600,000 of annual income is fully exempt, and only the portion above each threshold is taxed at the bracket rate. Government employees benefit from an additional 25% rebate on calculated tax under Section 149. Combined with the new Budget 2026-27 Tax Slabs, most salaried Pakistanis in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad will see a meaningful reduction in Income Tax Pakistan liability this year.

Worked Examples: Salary Tax Kitna Banega?

Four common salary levels, fully worked out under the FY 2026-27 salaried slabs. Every figure below is annual tax unless stated otherwise.

Rs 50,000 per month salary tax

Annual income = 50,000 × 12 = Rs 600,000. This is exactly the tax-free threshold, so tax = Rs 0. Monthly deduction is Rs 0 and take-home stays the full Rs 50,000.

Rs 100,000 per month salary tax

Annual income = Rs 1,200,000. Tax = 1% of (1,200,000 − 600,000) = Rs 6,000 per year, about Rs 500 per month. Effective rate 0.5%; net take-home Rs 99,500 per month.

Rs 200,000 per month salary tax

Annual income = Rs 2,400,000. Tax = 116,000 + 23% of (2,400,000 − 2,200,000) = 116,000 + 46,000 = Rs 162,000 per year, about Rs 13,500 per month. Effective rate 6.75%; net take-home Rs 186,500 per month.

Rs 500,000 per month salary tax

Annual income = Rs 6,000,000. Tax = 616,000 + 35% of (6,000,000 − 4,100,000) = 616,000 + 665,000 = Rs 1,281,000 per year, about Rs 106,750 per month. Effective rate 21.35%; net take-home Rs 393,250 per month.
